Math Stations

We have implemented math stations here in the jungle and we are rocking away with it! We are focusing on skip counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's, and learning about 10 more and 10 less. We will start doing the blog as a class from now on so I am sure it will be getting more fun with the students adding their ideas. Enjoy!

Composing Shapes

Last week we also worked on composing shapes. Students were very creative in composing these shapes. We used squares and triangles to compose bigger shapes such as hexagons and rectangles. Enjoy!

Halvsies!

Last week we also did fractions. We learned, halves, thirds, and fourths. We used poptarts and crackers to get them job done. Enjoy!

Even Steven/Odd Todd

This week we are focusing on odd and even numbers, ten more and less, and skip counting. Today we discussed Odd Todd and Even Steve. Your child can tell you all about them! They can use them to tell you if a number is odd or even, they also getting really groovy and make mohawks to tell you that a number is odd or even! A view into our classroom... enjoy!

Fishy Business

We got a running start going on here in the jungle! I have some pictures to show of some students working hard on some centers and a couple of the games we have in our classroom. Also you will find fishy business! We created some patterns using goldfish. We learned what an additive and repeating pattern is and created our own... Enjoy!

Team Building

On the first day of school we started a team building construction zone... Marshmallow Towers! Each table was given spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. They had to work together to create the tallest tower with their supplies. It was so wonderful to see them working together. My goal is for them to become friends, good friends, with each student in our class. We have gotten off to a really great start. Each student brings unique skills to the table and classroom each day. I learn so much from them daily. Enjoy!
